New Home for the Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant
The Canby Rodeo Board has extended an offer to host the Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant during the Canby Rodeo in conjunction with the Clackamas County Fair. Canby Rodeo was selected the 2010 PRCA Columbia River Circuit Large Rodeo of the Year. Canby Rodeo Directors, lead by President Dan Mickelsen, have put in a huge amount of leg work even before extending the offer to MROP, Inc. Executive Board, to be sure that the contestants and pageant committee would have everything they need for a successful pageant.
MROP, Inc. President, Leanna Steinke is excited about the arrangement. Canby Rodeo and MROP, Inc. will sign a one year agreement, giving both organizations an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the logistics of how a state pageant and a pro-rodeo committee will collaborate. After pageant is over Canby Rodeo and MROP directors will negotiate for another two years.
The Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant dates will be August 17-20,2011. MROP 1stVice President and Pageant Director, Stephanie Hedin, is working diligently on pageant details and putting her pageant committee together. The pageant includes Horsemanship, Modeling, Personality, Speech, Interviews, Knowledge Test, Photogenic, and Appearance competition. Highly qualified judges are invited from out-of-state to make the difficult selection. The big announcement and crowning of the 2012 Miss Rodeo Oregon will take place during the Saturday night performance of the Canby Rodeo, followed by a media event.
