Frances (Frankie) A. Engel

Clements, CA

Frankie is from a third generation Clements, California ranching and rodeo family, and married 48 years to a local rancher, retired Fire Chief and retired rodeo producer.  She has had a lifetime involvement in rodeo, from production and promotion, to queen contest coordinator, and a PRCA timer.

 She had been involved with the Western States Equestrian Drill Team Association for more than 15 years having judged numerous State competitions.

 She has also enjoyed showing Australian Cattle Dogs

 She has two grown children; son Robert, a Captain with the Cal Fire, and daughter Rayanne Engel Currin, who was the 1994 Miss Rodeo California and currently works for Western Horseman Magazine and barrel races.  Frankie and her husband Ray enjoy their four-year-old twin grandchildren, Rayna and Riley Currin, who are already avid rodeo buffs.

She has judged numerous local, high school and college rodeo queen contests.  She has been a judge for MISS GRAND NATIONAL, MISS RENO RODEO, MISS RODEO OREGON, MISS RODEO ARIZONA, MISS RODEO WASHINGTON, MISS RODEO IDAHO and MISS RODEO WYOMING.

 She is currently the National Director from California to Miss Rodeo America and has been a Board Member of the Miss Rodeo California Pageant since 1995.                                         

 Professionally, she a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently working as a psychotherapist in private practice specializing in the fields of trauma recovery, Critical Incident Stress Management as well as marital and family issues.

 

Raylah Holm 

Ellensburg, WA

Raylah Holm has been involved with rodeo and rodeo queens for more than 35 years. She currently resides in Ellensburg, WA with her husband, Dennis and an assortment of large and small animals.  She enjoys living close to her twin 9-year old grandchildren and has been employed by Hewlett Packard for the last 14 years.

 

Raylah is no stranger to the rodeo arena.  She is a former competitor in barrel racing, steer un-decorating and goat tying when she was an active member of the Girls Northwest Rodeo Association.  Raylah successfully competed in Hunter Jumper, Saddle Seat and Side Saddle competitions while in college.  Raylah has been a card carrying PRCA timer since the early 1970’s and continues to time rodeos part time when needed.

 

Along with competing in rodeos and horseshows, Raylah has been active with the Miss Rodeo Washington since 1973.  She was a Board of Director for the Miss Rodeo Washington Association, Inc. for many years, held various officer positions and is the mother of a former Miss Rodeo Washington.   She is an active member of the Miss Rodeo America organization and is currently the National Director for the State of Washington to Miss Rodeo America, Inc.

 

Raylah has seen, first hand, the value programs like Miss Rodeo Oregon can offer young women across the country.  She congratulates each of the contestants for taking the step to compete and reach for their goals

 

Mardee Swanson

North Platte, NE

Mardee Swanson recently moved to North Platte NE from her farm and ranch property near Hershey NE. She is a charter member of the Velvet Spurs Riding club, a ladies riding group, which celebrated their 43rd  anniversary in March of this year. Being involved in many events of Nebraska's state celebration NEBRASKAland DAYS since it's beginning 45 years ago, Mardee was asked to join the NEBRASKAland Days Board of Directors in 1990.   She served a term of four years and was elected president of the board her last year.

 

Mardee served as the Miss Rodeo NE State Delegate for ten years, and still stays very involved with the Miss Rodeo NE program. She is a member of the Miss Rodeo NE Pageant Committee, currently serves as Past President of the Miss Rodeo NE Association and on the Advisory Council of Miss Rodeo America Inc. She has judged several state pageants, including ID, KS, MT, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY and the National High Rodeo Queen Contest twice.  Mardee truly enjoys working with rodeo queens and would love to see more contests held and more girls become involved on the state level. 

 

Rodeo has always been a big part of her life as her husband Swede steer wrestled for many years was a member of the PRCA since 1973; and a gold card member. Her son Shane competes as a steer-wrestler and she enjoys following his efforts as he has his PRCA card and participates in many rodeos. 

 

She loves to read, travel, cook and spend time with her family, who include daughter, Sabrena who lives in Atlanta GA, son Shane and especially her three granddaughters who live in Omaha Nebraska.
