Greetings!
I am so honored to have received the title of Miss Teen Rodeo Oregon for 2010. The Junior Miss and Miss Teen pageant is a great experience and I feel blessed to have been able to experience this pageant. All of the contestants who competed with me are wonderful girls and I think we all had fun at the Santiam Canyon Stampede. I appreciate the help and support I have received from the MRO board and Jackie Gibson. Just two weeks after the pageant I rode my horse Hickory in the Gaston Wapato Parade with the 2010 Miss Rodeo Oregon, Ashley Zeigler. I brought along my other horse Snoopy for Ashley to ride, and we had a great time together. The following week my 18th birthday was August 29th and I attended the Miss Rodeo Oregon Royal Cruise In. The cars were beautiful and it was fun to present the awards. I then attended the NPRA finals at the Oregon State Fair carrying flags throughout the rodeos. On Saturday, October 10th, my mom and I rode in the MRO gaming series. Sunday October 11th I attended the St. Paul Royal Court tryouts. The following weekend I attended the Canby Rodeo Court try-outs, as well as the Yamhill County Fair & Rodeo Court Pageant. That evening Ashley, Savannah, and I were guests at the “Taste Along the Trail” fundraiser in Portland. We sold raffle tickets and assisted with the live auction and it was a wonderful event. Last month the Hillsboro Kiwanis club invited me to be their guest speaker, where I shared about my title, the pageant, my horse and the upcoming rodeo season. Also, I traveled to Pendleton with my mom, Diane, and my great-aunt, Molly Hall (Country Stitchin’), to meet with chap maker, Sandie Shook. Designing my chaps was incredible, and I can hardly wait to see them finished. We also found beautiful Italian Lambskin for my coronation dress. Stephanie Esterly loaned me the crown for my photo session in November. I attended the Tillamook County Rodeo Queen Coronation November 21st. Thank you to the Tillamook Fair and Rodeo Board for a great evening, and delicious meal. Congratulations to Kaitlyn Dolan! It’s exciting to make plans for my coronation on Saturday, January 2nd. The location is Liberty High School where I continue to receive encouragement from my teachers and school administration. Along with my rodeo queen activities, my plans for college continue as I took the SAT and completed my application to OSU. Time flies by and I can hardly wait for the year that lies ahead. Happy New Year and I hope to see you at my coronation! Ariel Marie Overstreet Miss Teen Rodeo Oregon 2010
