2012 Miss Rodeo Oregon
Queen Shelby Ross
A 2009 graduate of Sisters High School, Shelby Ross is the 20 year-old daughter of Dale Ross and Melinda and Brian Witt. She was a dedicated participant in 4-H, showing both Western and English discipline. In all four high school years, she participated on the Oregon High School Equestrian Team, serving as Co-Captain for two years. Shelby expanded her athleticism as a member of the Sisters Golf Team, earning the state 2007 and 2008 championships.
Shelby has dreamed of being a rodeo queen since she was a little girl, attaining this goal as the 2010 Sisters Rodeo Queen. Also in 2010, she moved to Corvallis to enroll in Oregon State University, majoring in Elementary Education with plans to teach second grade.
Her dream of becoming a rodeo queen reached an even greater height when she was named 2012 Miss Rodeo Oregon during the Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant at the Canby Rodeo in August, 2011. She garnered pageant categories of Appearance, Knowledge, Personality and the coveted Horsemanship. Shelby was honored to be crowned in the Canby Arena by 2011 Miss Rodeo Oregon, and now 2012 Miss Rodeo America, Mackenzie Carr. She thanks Mackenzie for being a great role model for all Oregon rodeo titleholders. As Miss Rodeo Oregon 2012, Shelby will travel over 30,000 miles throughout the state and the United States promoting the Oregon and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Her dreams would not have become a reality without the love and commitment of her family, friends and supporters. In her role representing Oregon rodeo, Shelby promises “I will make you proud!”
