Horsemanship Kicks off our 2012 Pageant

Horsemanship kicks us off!
The 2012 Junior Miss & Miss Teen Rodeo Oregon pageant is officially off and running. Contestants, their families, the judges, and the membership & Board of Directors of MROP, Inc. were welcomed by our President Leanna Steinke and Pageant Director Tanya Marie Utberg and like a flash we were off. The girls showed their horsemanship ability by performing 2 patterns, a flag run followed by a queen’s run. The free-style pattern was first and then the set pattern was set to the judges liking by 2011 Miss Teen Rodeo Oregon Kiernan Hull before our contestants began the competition. Nothing, but well mannered horses and young ladies who all shined bright in the arena.

One special touch to this event was in the event programs created by Tonya Fodge where the contestants had to answer this question: How would your horse describe you. Look for their answers in a later post this evening!
This afternoon begins the interview process with personal interviews followed by the contestant written test on horsemanship and knowledge of the sport of rodeo, as well as a conversation about their own lives and perhaps what led them to this moment and this Pageant as an avenue for success.

The funest part of the day is yet to come when we get to go to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for some cheese shopping and of course world winning award ice cream cones! MMMM!!! I can hear the tummies rumble from a calm growl to an intense as the time at the famous cheese factory quickly approaches, 3 pm can’t come soon enough!

Stay tuned, as tonight we have our modeling, impromptu questions, and Speech round 1 which is the contestants prepared speech competition.
